Alvin Ray Lloyd

October 25, 1957 — November 27, 2024

Alvin “Ray” Lloyd was born to the union of the late Norman and Irma Lloyd on October 25, 1957. On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, God picked a rose and took the sweet fragrance home. “Ray” as he was affectionately known grew up in the Ebenezer Baptist Church and was baptized by Reverend Ronald A. Sutton. Ray regularly attended New Galilee Baptist Church until his earthly departure. He was 67 years old. Ray attended school in East Baton Rouge Parish and was a 1976 graduate of McKinley Senior High School. Ray was a “South Baton Legend” and was named MVP of the 1976 McKinley Track Team. He worked several years for the City of Baton Rouge, and he was currently employed by the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.  Ray was also active in the community of North Baton Rouge during voting season. To know Ray was to love him. He enjoyed cooking, grilling and spending time with his grandkids.  He was a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan.


He is survived by his five children: daughters: Valencia (Barry) Paul and LaQuita (Jarvis) Whitley; sons, Milton Perkins, son, Taurean (Keonna) Jones,  Montreal Lloyd; stepdaughter, Latrennia  (Derrick Sr.) Goins; Seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a devoted companion, Macsene Lloyd; three sisters: Betty Payne, Wanda Sims, and Wilda Bryant; one brother, Gregory Lloyd; a sister in law Constance Lloyd; aunt: Rosie Barnes, Joyce and Jean Lloyd; two God children: Louis Bethley Jr. and Eric Johnson Sr., a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Norman and Irma Lloyd; four brothers: Larry, Wendell, Bertell, and Nolan Lloyd; one sister, Loretta Bethley; and three brothers-in- law, a nephew, Marquette Lloyd, and a great nephew, Derrick Sims Jr.

Viewing Saturday December 07, 2024, at 10:00am until Funeral Service at 11:00am at Bible World Christian Center 1771 N Lobdell Blvd Baton Rouge, La 70806 conducted by Pastor Ronald Sutton of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. Professional Services entrusted to Resting Place Funeral Home.
