Calvin Burnell Turner was born in New Orleans, La to the union of Verlia and Burnell Thomas in 1959. Calvin passed away May 26, 2024 at the age of 64 at Baton Rouge General Mid City. Calvin graduated from Capitol Senior High School in 1977, where he was a star football player. He was employed with Interior Exterior Building Supply for over 10 years until he fell ill in 2019. Calvin served as the head cook at the Salvation Army, where he found his passion for cooking and where he also met the love of his life, Patsy. They later married in 1999. Calvin was a die-hard fan of the San Francisco 49ers. He loved spending time with family and friends. Calvin had a smile that would light up the room. He was funny, kind, and adventurous. Calvin loved his grandchildren unconditionally. They were his pride and joy. Calvin will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His legacy will live on in the bridges he built in steel and in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife Patsy Thomas, eight daughters who loved him deeply, Ashley (Wendy) Roberts, Germnicke (Corey) Turner, Shalida (Edward) Jeanpierre, Altisha (Carddell) London, Zikia (Cody) Griffin, Shamyra Brown (Ashton), Geovanni Felton and Tori Scott, his sister Grenee Thomas, grandchildren, Jadarius Joseph, Ja'Lynn Joseph, Cae'Daijah Joseph, Edward Jeanpierre Jr., Cherish Nero, Cardea London, E'Laijah Jeanpierre, Christopher Nero Jr., Cali Griffin, Car'Leigh London, Cammie Griffin, Carmelo London, Cortland Turner, Ashton Conery Jr., brother in law Johnell (Vicky) Joseph, sister in law, Herlanda Cador, brother in law Edward Patin, niece Charmecia Travis, nephew Christopher Travis, and a host of aunts, cousins and friends. Calvin is proceeded in death by his mother, Verlia Thomas, father Burnell Thomas, brothers John and Myron Thomas, grandmothers, Louis Thomas and Elizabeth White, uncle, Nathaniel Thomas, grandsons, Carddell London Jr., Corey Turner Jr., and Corren Turner, mother in law, Jeanetta Joseph, and sister in law Veronica Joseph.
