Carrie V Armstead departed this life surrounded by the love of her family Thursday May 23,2024, at the age of 80. Carrie confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. Carrie was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Charles T. Smith, where she served in the usher ministry. She later moved her membership to Interdenominational Faith Assembly under the leadership of Pastors Dr. Guevara and Dr. Shannon Johnson, where she continued her christian walk.
She was educated in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System , where she finished at Mckinley High School. She was employed with Louisiana State University, where she retired as a custodial supervisor after serving 30 years.
Carrie never met a stranger who didn’t affectionately call her either Aunt Carrie, Nana or TeeTee.
Carrie had one daughter the late Darlene Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted granddaughter Brittaney Jackson, two brothers, Nolan Veal Jr.,Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lawrence E. Johnson Sr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana, special nephew Lawrence E. Johnson (Tonga), stepfather Alfred Lecoq, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, two godsons, Edwin John Joseph and Nicholas Robinson, best friend Betty L. Grayer and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Carrie is proceeded in death by her parents Nolan Veal Sr.and Jessie Johnson Lecoq, daughter Darlene Jackson, brother Roland Veal Sr.,and grandparents Matthew Johnson Sr. and Beatrice Simmons.
Viewing Saturday June 01,2024, 8:00am until Funeral Service at 10:00am at Interdenominational Faith Assembly 5045 Greenwell St. Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70805. Interment in Southern Memorial Garden. Professional Services entrusted to Resting Place Funeral Home.
