Carrie Elmonia Williams Reese was born on September 2, 1922 in Baton Rouge, LA and peacefully departed this life on November 27, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Toncy Williams and Julia Foster, husband, Willie James Reese, her son, Wilfred Reginald Reese Sr., her daughter Doris Jean Reese Leonard, her grandson Bryan Karlton Leonard, and 10 siblings. Honey, as she was affectionately called, lived a full life for 99 years. She married Willie on May 18, 1946 and earned a trade certificate in tailoring from Southern University A&M University on May 22 of that same year. After marrying Willie, they moved to Oakland, California where their union produced three children. In Oakland, Honey spent her time as an officer in the Parent/Teacher Association at Lafayette Elementary School and as an usher at the Church of the Good Shepard. The family moved back home to Baton Rouge in 1960. Honey became a member of Mount Zion First Baptist Church where she was a member of the September Month Club, an usher, an Arts and Craft teacher at Vacation Bible School, and a Deaconess. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, being with friends and family, reading scripture and listening to gospel music. Later in life, Honey became a member of Greater First Church Baptist where she served as a deaconess well into her 90s. Honey is survived by her daughter, Lois Yvonne Reese, two god children; Yvette Russ and Ivorye Taylor, five grandchildren; Charlotte L. J. Parker, Arthur James Leonard, Angela Yvonne Reese Marine (TeRay), Wilfred Reginald Reese, Jr., and Leea Reese Russell (Donald, Jr.); thirteen great grandchildren, Janai Whitney James, Amber Leonard Pearson (Andre), Jeremiah Paul Leonard, Caitlyn James Jarrels (Markeith), Arthur James Leonard, II, Michael Joseph James, Jr., Tyrin Christopher Reese, A’Myri J’Vonne Leonard, Antoneo Jaqari Leonard, Laniah Makenzie Marine, Chase Christian Reese, Myah Bryán Leonard, Jacob Jordan Russell, Isaiah Alexander Russell; eleven great-great grandchildren, and a beautifully large family filled with cousins, nieces, nephews, and sisters in law.
