Charlene Edwina Williams Stewart, the second oldest of five children, was born December 2, 1938, to Eddie Asbury and Wilhelmina Spears Williams in Baton Rouge, LA. She died on July 24, 2021 in Baton Rouge, LA. She responded to the call of Christian discipleship at an early age where she was christened at Wesley AME Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend Albert. She later converted to the Baptist faith. Charlene was a graduate of Reddy Street Elementary School and McKinley Senior High School, Baton Rouge, LA. She later continued her education by completing courses at Toddy’s Business College and at Southern University Continuing Education. She was employed for many years at Capitol Senior High School, The Harmony Center, Inc., and Baton Rouge Area Alcohol & Drug Detoxification Center. She is survived by her children Raymond D Morris of Baton Rouge, LA; Bridgette Germain Morris of Houston, TX; James S Williams and spouse Paula Renee’ Williams of Houston, TX; and Peter J Ross, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; grandson Cardell Demond Robinson; granddaughters Megan Camille Williams and Maya Renee’ Williams. Visitation Saturday August 7, 2021 from 9:00am until Religious Service at 10:00am at New Sunlight Baptist Church 1777 America St. Baton Rouge, La 70802 officiated by Pastor Dale Flowers. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Professional Services entrusted to Resting Place Funeral Home.
