Minister Deborah Robinson was born February 16,1953 to Freddie and Mabel Robinson in New Orleans, La. Deborah departed this life Tuesday October 03, 2023. She was baptized at an early age by Rev. Dixie Major at Straight Life Baptist Church. She attended Southern University Lab. She also attended Southern University. Deborah started playing piano at the age of 7 years old with Mr. Roland Samber of New York. She took piano lessons for 1 year. From that point she continued to teach herself. At the age of 16 she took interest in the organ and was trained by Mr. Robert Moncrieffe. She became the Minister of Music at her church at the age of 12. Deborah also attended National Truck Driving School and finished as a professional tractor/trailer operator. She was ordained as a Licensed Minister in July 2010 by her Pastor/Spiritual Mother Bishop Thelma Pearl. She also received her Doctorate Degree in music by Archbishop Bernadine Turner. Deborah has worked with various recording artist such as Twinkie Clark, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, Shirley Caesar, Albertina Walker, and good friend Dorothy Norwood. She enjoyed fishing, watching movies with family, practicing, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her daily ritual was prayer, reading and studying God's Word. Deborah played for numerous churches in and around Baton Rouge. Deborah leaves to cherish her memories a devoted friend/caregiver Melissa Clay, Spiritual Mother Bishop Thelma Pearl, cousins: Kenneth Dawson, Thomas Dawson, Lucy Williams, Michael Wallace and Lawrence Wallace, Sisters: Lorita R. Spears, Mamie P. Pearl, Darlene (Larry) Munson, and Veronica Jackson, Brothers: Michael (Shantelle) Pearl, Charles (Jill) Pearl, Maurice Pearl, Marcus (Zanele) Pearl and Michel (Nesser) Brown, Godchildren: Secari Powell, Shonel Riley, Tylan Anthony, Teresa Tate, Terrell Tate, Jennifer Harrison, Rashonica Jones, Darryl Clay, Derrick Burden, and Jerimy Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Freddie and Mabel Robinson, maternal and paternal grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and two godchildren.
Viewing Thursday October 19, 2023 at 6:00pm and Musical Tribute at 7:00pm with Service to follow at Promise Land Baptist Church 7234 Plank Rd. Baton Rouge, La 70811. Interment in Southern Memorial Garden Friday October 20, 2023 at 10:00am. Professional Service entrusted to Resting Place Funeral Home.
