Juanita Ledoux, a loving and gentle soul, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 26, 2022 surrounded by family. Juanita was born in Baton Rouge, LA on October 3, 1949 to Hester Scott Taylor and Mose Taylor Sr. She is a graduate of McKinley Senior High School class of 1968. She is also a graduate of Spencer College and attended Southern University. Juanita retired from East Baton Rouge City-Parish Government in 2011, after 30+ combined years of service working as an administrative assistant in Baton Rouge City Police Criminal Records, Engineering, and Waste Water Collections. On May 24, 1996, she married her longtime sweetheart Leroy Sr., a plant laborer also from Baton Rouge. The two first met as young children due to their families living across the street from one another in South Baton Rouge. On October 7, 1985 they welcomed their only child together, Leroy J. Ledoux Jr., who became the source of all their joy and happiness. Juanita is survived by her husband of 26 years, Leroy J. Ledoux Sr; her son, Leroy J. Ledoux Jr; bonus daughter, Sheila Ledoux Scott; one granddaughter, Amanda Ledoux; three sisters, Mary Ferguson, Betty Wheeler, and Judy Hudson (Larry); Two Aunts, Ollie Richardson and Nellie Taylor, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded by her parents, Hester Scott Taylor and Mose Taylor Sr; Four brothers, Charlie Schaffer, Major Schaffer, George Louis Schaffer, and Mose A. Taylor Jr; Three sisters, Gertrude Schaffer Taylor, Laura Schaffer, and Rosalie Bradford. Juanita was a devoted mother and wife who enjoyed spending time with family and also her New St. John church family. She served on the deaconess board for many years at New St. John before the Covid-19 pandemic prevented the church from having in-person services and her health began to decline. She was a devout Christian and still remained steadfast in the word of God. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
