Lawrence Edward entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Baton Rouge General Hospital Butterfly Wing. He was born on August 15, 1952 to the late Rosie Lee Hayes Powell and the late Buddy Bryant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lawrence educational career started at Scott Elementary School. He played one year of basketball at Capitol Junior Middle School. He completed the majority ofhis education in the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools System. He was fondly known as “Slim the Painter” for his professional trade in painting. He was well known around Baton Rouge for his excellence skills in painting. Everyone talked about how well he could paint a whole house without dropping one ounce of paint on furniture or floors. He preferred to work alone painting for businesses and individual home owners. His artistic abilities began when he was a student at Scott Elementary School. If you showed him a picture he could replicate it without any mistakes. However, he was a “Meat Lover” too. He often trade his art work to his niece for her meat at dinner time. He never taught her how to draw because he love meat that much and that was the only way she could pay him for his work. Around the age of twelve or thirteen, his sister Verna fried some chicken and fell asleep. She was going to feed us when she got up from her nap, but Lawrence could not wait. While she was sleeping he got hold of the chicken and brought it outside and had a feast. He was a loner. He enjoyed his solitude while fishing or shooting pool. He was never involved in large crowds or groups even within his family or large extended family. His favorite pastime things to do was fishing and shooting pool. However, Lawrence did enjoyed spendingtime with his family. Music and dancing were second on his list of having a good time. His favorite dance move was the “Moon Walk”. Lawrence would often show off his move dancing around the house. He enjoyed listening to Motown Greatest Hits while taking his family on rides to the stores. He also enjoyed teaching his younger nieces how to play Dominoes. He often tried to show his younger daughter, Lawrencia, how to build things dealing with construction. Although Lawrence seemed like a loner to most of us, he occasionally took time to talk to his kids. His fatherly advice included “All the effort you put into doing wrong or bad”, “Put that same effort towards doing good and right” ; and “I’m proud of you”, and “I love you completely and wholeheartedly”. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Wilda Lloyd Bryant; three daughters, Anetra Bryant Hawkins (Floyd, III) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Lawrencia Bryant (Emerson) and Ashley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one step-daughter, Erica R.
