Lee Curtis Jackson

October 13, 1936 — December 22, 2024

Lee Curtis Jackson, also known as Dad, Grandaddy, Uncle, LC, Peewee, and Suga, was born in Yazoo City, MS on October 13, 1936, to Stanfield and Mary Jackson. He was the youngest of 14 children. He is survived by his favorite sister Pricilla Blue. In the early 1950's the family moved north to Ohio where he lived in Toledo. He later moved to Detroit, MI in the late 1950's where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, for Angelo DiPonio Construction. Even though he only had a 4th grade education, he was one of only a few people who could operate the underground tunneling machine at that time. He was also a welder and demolition expert. Upon retiring he opened his own Plumbing and Heating business called Dad and Mike's. He successfully operated this business for more than 20 years. It became known as the place to get anything you needed for your plumbing and HVAC needs. He wanted to be the best at everything he did, and he was.  Lee was always surrounded by his favorite things, a hot cup of coffee, a newspaper and family, especially the grandkids. If you were with him, you were guaranteed to laugh and learn. Lee was a wonderful friend and always made himself available to help anyone. He was truly gifted mechanically. He could build or fix anything. There was nothing he could not do, only things he didn't want to do! Lee was always the most physically and mentally strong person in every room. He was fearless. The world will not be the same without him. No one can deny that he lived his life his way!

Lee married twice. He and his first wife, Delphine had two children, Rochelle Jackson and Mark Jackson. He also had two children, Keyong Jackson Chukwu and Michael Jackson with his second wife, Lucille. His charismatic and charming personality is evidenced by the many other children he fathered, Lee Barber, Aaron Davis, Joyce Davis, Bernadine Davis, Bernadette Hampton, Eric Simmon, Christopher Gatewood, Brandi Gatewood and others.

Lee died on Sunday, December 22, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA at Baton Rouge General Hospital, at the ripe old age of 88, just the way he wanted, in his sleep.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, 12 siblings, both wives and one son, Mark Jackson.

Lee will continue to be loved and missed by all who knew him for generations to come. He will especially be missed by his nephew and best friend Lorenzo Ball.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Resting Place Funeral Home, The Woodleigh, and Baton Rouge General for their generous support, loving care, encouraging words, and thoughts and prayers.
