Lillian Marie Jackson (Momma Lil) White at age 80, gracefully and peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, December 9, 2022. She has been a God loving, God fearing Christian all her life. Lillian was born November 2, 1942. She was second of the 15 children of the late Velma and Delia Mae Casson Jackson of Natchitoches and grew up in Pineville, LA. Lillian was united in marriage to Earl John White for 59 years until her death. To this union, two sons were born, Timothy and André. Lillian graduated with honors from Peabody High School, Alexandria, LA. She received scholarships to Southern University A&M College and earned her Bachelor and Master Education Degrees with honors. After graduation, she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and her husband became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Both are life members and enjoyed many functions together participating and serving the community. Lillian was also a member of the Top Ladies of Distinction Inc. Lillian began her teaching career at Phillis Wheatley High School in Melville, LA. She moved back to Baton Rouge and taught French, Spanish, and English at Baker High, Lee High, and Belaire High schools. She helped build a modern, state of the art, Foreign Language Lab at Belaire. Mrs. White made it possible for students to make journeys of a lifetime to other parts of the world that included Europe, London England, Paris France, Switzerland, and Geneva. She remained at Belaire until her retirement from teaching. She worked along with her husband at Southern University, as a “basketball shot clock” operator, and manned the phones in Southern University’s press box for many years. She was also a businesswoman who excelled at working with Amway, Long Distance Services, and Primerica. She is preceded in death by her Parents (Velmer & Delia), and her husband’s parents Paul White, Jr. & Elvie White of Opelousas, LA. After her 80 years of life, she leaves to mourn her beloved: • Husband: Earl John White from Opelousas, LA • First Son: Timothy Darneil White & RozicaJeneen Cowans White. Grandsons: Darneil, DeVaughn, Darrak and great-grandchildren of Darrak and Cecil Ordonez: London and Anthony • Second Son: André Bernard White &Darlene Denise Gant White and grandchildren: Andrea and Zachary. • Adopted Sons: Claude & Ruby Tran and Joe & Mary Tran She also leaves to mourn: • 3 sisters: Anne Jackson, Pamela Nelson, & Jennifer Thomas • 8 brothers & spouses: Thomas Jackson, Sr., Charles & Christine Jackson, John Jackson, Robert & Helen Jackson, Donald & Gill Jackson, David Jackson, Wilfred & Pamela Jackson, and Martin & Kristy Jackson • Significant others of the family: Pamela G. Jackson, Nikki Jackson, and Tekenia Palmer • 2 sisters-in-laws: Shirley White Stevens & Barbara White King • 2 brother-in-laws: Russell & Artherine White, Nolan & Willie Anne White • And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, former students, and co-workers.
