Love is patient love is kind love is best when it is genuine, I can’t help but give God glory when I think about my story and I know God favour me because my enemy could not, would not triumph over me” Missionary Margery Paulette Spears-Johnson was born in New Roads, La to parents Marjorie Cobb and Paul Jarreau on December 18, 1956. She was baptized into the Christin faith at St. Peter AME Church. “Paulette” entered Rosenwald Elementary School for three years before enrolling in the Detroit public school system. She was an aggressive learner and a difficulty student who always gave the other children the answers when called upon. She later returned to Baton Rouge graduating from Scotlandville High with honours. After completing her high school curriculum, she enrolled into Southern University. “Paulette” will always say “since mama was always on me to excel and reach higher, I also enrolled her with me. We both went to college at the same time.” Paulette” joined Macedonia Church of God in Christ with her husband and five boys in 1984. “Paulette” has given much of her time and dedication; worked for East Baton Rouge Parish School Board as a teacher aide (1977-1978), the Louisiana Department of Revenue as a Clerk II (1978-1980), Louisiana Office of Employment Security also as a Clerk II (1983-1984), Louisiana Department of Labor (1985-1987), and Louisiana Workforce Commission as an Accountant Technician (1987-2010). “Paulette’s” love for God and laughter will forever be in the hearts of her beloved children; Colon (Terrilyn) Spears, Kelvin (Zenola) Spears both of Baton Rouge, La. Extended family; Ted Thomas & Yashika Duncan of Baton Rouge, La. Parents; Rev. Marjorie Thomas of New Roads, La and Paul Jaurreau of Detroit Michigan. Grandchildren; Kelsi Wade, Colon Neely, Colonique Thomas, Alton Spears Jr. and Keliss Bell, Kayla and Ja’Shanda Johnson. Siblings; James (Clarissa) Battley, Jawara (Shonda) Jarreau, Marie (Henry) Jack, Wynnda (Steve) Holiday, Nona Griffin, Donna (Ronald) Hudson, Kara Thomas, Dr. Deborah Thomas, Lynelle (Edmund) Diolulu and Tiesha Norfleet (George). Godchildren; Elisha and Monica. And a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. “Paulette” is proceeded in death by sons Alvin Spears Jr, Alton Spears and Jeremiah Paul Spears; siblings John Roger Cobb, Lynn Karl; grandson Jeremiah Spears Jr., and grandparents Moses and Rosetta Cobb. Viewing Saturday April 30, 2022 10:00am until Funeral Service at 11:00am at Wayside Christian Fellowship 201 Sherron Ave Baker, La 70714. Interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. Professional services entrusted to Resting Place Funeral Home.
