Nolia Mae Gibson

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, God offered Nolia Mae Gibson eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was 79 years old. Mae was the daughter of the late Alberta Jones and Albert Joseph, she entered this world on November 6, 1944. She was born and raised in Vacherie, Louisiana. Mae was a loving mother, grandmother/ great-grandmother/ great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and the best babysitter in the town of Vacherie.

As we mourn Mae, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived — a life filled with love, laughter, and a gentle spirit that touched us all. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her memory will live on, a testament to the enduring power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived.

Very young in age Mae heard the voice of God and dedicated her life to Christ. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Reverend Jones in the Mississippi River. Later in her life, Mae served faithfully as a proud and active member in the choir. Which lead her on various trips around the world

On October 21, 1961, Mae married the love of her life the late Harold Gibson Sr. From this union five kids were born but altogether seven was raised

Nolia Mae leaves her loving and devoted family to honor her memories: her loving children, Harold Jr., Bruce, Sandra, Don Cornelius Sr. (Lísa), Lacreatria Gibson, and LaNasha Jones; grandchildren, Francis, Darrius, Anthony, Dijonía, Teoshia, Thayland, Tyrese, Don Cornelius Jr., Davonne Jr., Earon, and Landyn; great grandchildren, Jariah, TaShiyah Dasani, Brayden, Darrius Jr., Harold, and Jason; great-great grandchildren, Alora', and Rckeya; sisters, Lola Roussel, Rose Jones, Cora Peters, Vanessa Bush, and Pecolía Bush; brothers, Cornelius Jones Sr., and Floyd Bush; godchildren Carl Fletcher, Monica Ester, Christie Zeringue, Sennecca Jones, Ahmad Jackson, and Wendell Thomas; sister in laws, Verna Mae Thomas, and Gayle Zeno; brother in laws, Larry & Leroy Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta Jones and Albert Joseph; husband, Harold Gibson; daughter, Annette Marie Gibson; brothers, Oscar Zeno Sr., and Raymond Bush; sisters, Clara Mae Jones, Ester Mae Williams, Ellen Fletcher, Ora Bell Ambrose, Corretha Johnson, and Claudia Moore,

A Quite Wake (viewing) will be held on Friday August 9, 2024 at 5pm-7pm

A Celebration of Life honoring Nolia Mae Gibson will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 1244 Magnolia Heights St., Vacherie, LA 70090. Visitation beginning at 9AM, with service of a musical to follow at 11:00am. Interment at First Baptist Church Cemetery.
