Olivia Stevens Selvage was born to the late Tom Duley and Mamie Stevens in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Olivia was the oldest of eight children. Olivia loved God and confessed Christ as her Savior at an early age at Pleasant Green Baptist Church. Olivia attended McKinley Elementary. She was a 1947 Graduate of McKinley Senior High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduating high school, Olivia worked at the McKinley Theater where she met her husband, the late Willie Selvage. Olivia attended J.S. Frazier Trade School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and majored in nursing. She eventually received her license to practice and became employed by Our Lady of the Lake Hospital as a Nurses' Aide. Olivia had a passion for cooking, cleaning, caring for family, and keeping a clean and welcoming home. Olivia was a loving, overprotective, caring mother and grandmother. She would sacrifice whatever she felt she needed in order that her children would be well cared for and nurtured. Olivia was a very trustworthy person and excellent cook. Olivia received her reward of eternal rest in Heaven on January ll, 2023 at the age of 93. Cherished memories will forever be in the hearts of her two children, Wanda Selvage-Johnson (Larry Johnson) and Keith Gerrard Selvage (Denise Prejean-Selvage). Four foster children, Rochelle Robertson, Paris Robertson, Arnika Williams, and Rochelle Williams. Eight grandchildren Keisha Houston (Ashley Houston), Aaron Young, Kyra Johnson, Kevin Johnson (Megan Johnson), Crystal Young, Jessica Pitcher, Erica Pitcher, and Destiny Mills. Eleven great grandchildren Daijah Selvage, Aniya Young, Joshua Johnson, Devin Houston, Braylen Williams, Jamia Raby, and Keilen Brown. One great great grandchild Jermaine Terrance Jr., Two sisters in love Betty Stevens and Alice Stevens. Olivia leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Olivia is preceded in death by her parents Tom Duley and Mamie Stevens, husband Willie Selvage, son Michael E. Selvage, siblings Lester Stevens, Elnora Sterling, Lucille Moss, Wesley Stevens, Eola Jones, Robert Stevens, and Mattie Stevens.
