Russel James Gautreau

1982 — April 11, 2025

Baton Rouge

Russel James Gautreau, a beloved son, father, brother, husband and friend, was born in 1982, in Baton Rouge. He departed this world unexpectedly on April 11, 2025, at the age of 43, leaving behind a profound legacy of love and inspiration.

Russel's journey through life was marked by a deep passion for music and a resilient spirit that triumphed over adversity. Having worked diligently in construction, he found great fulfillment in his career, but it was in the warmth of family gatherings and the creation of beautiful melodies that his true essence shone brightest. Russel was a talented musician who could play any instrument he touched.

Known for his vibrant personality, Russel had an infectious energy that could light up any room. He shared a sincere love for Jesus, and this faith radiated through his life, inspiring others as he tirelessly shared the Gospel with those around him. His heartfelt songs and music provided not just entertainment, but also comfort and connection, becoming a soundtrack to the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

Russel was immensely proud of his children—Brooklyn, Brent, Presley, and Kingston—who were at the center of his world. Even as he faced challenges his determination to remain a loving father and a guiding light for his children shone through. He cherished every moment he spent with them and found joy in sharing his passions, instilling in them the values of love and resilience.

He leaves behind his wife, Ashley Rousseau Gautreau, with whom he shared a close bond despite their separation. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Lisa Gautreau, and his three brothers, Ernie Jr., Eric, and Tommy, along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and spirit.

Russel is predeceased by his father, Ernie Gautreau Sr., whose memory will continue to inspire his family, especially as they navigate this difficult time.

As they grieve the loss of Russel, those who knew him remember not just the sorrow of his passing but the light he brought into their lives through his music, his laughter, and his unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will forever echo in the songs he shared, the meals he prepared, and the love he spread so generously.
