And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3 Willie Sims, Jr. affectionally known as “Billy” was born to the union of the late Willie “Bill” Sims, Sr. and the late Myrdes Jones Sims on January 4, 1948. A resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 74. Billy accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Eddie Perkins, Sr. at Magnolia Baptist Church. Later in life Billy rededicated his life to Christ and joined North Boulevard Macedonia Full Gospel Church under the leadership of Pastor Clifton Sanford. Billy was educated in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. After attending McKinley Senior High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He worked over 30 years as a Printing Press Operator with the State of Louisiana. Billy retired from the Louisiana Division of Administration on January 5, 2006. Billy married the love of his life, Wanda Lloyd on August 11, 1968. God blessed this union with three loving children: Melanie, Shannon, and Derrick. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, watching television especially sports, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Billy was a cool, easy-going, and caring person who everyone took an immediate liking. Billy leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Wanda L. Sims; two daughters, Melanie and Shannon Sims; one son, Derrick Sims, Sr.; one granddaughter, Sarah Sims; one grandson, D’Andre Landry; one uncle, William (Marjorie) Jones all of Baton Rouge, LA; two aunts, Sadie Jones of Piscataway, NJ and Zetta Sims of Wichita, KS; three sisters-in-law, Betty Payne, Wilda Bryant, Constance Lloyd; three brothers-in-law, Nolan Lloyd, Alvin (Macsene) Lloyd, and Gregory Lloyd, all of Baton Rouge, LA; three godchildren, Regina Tucker of Prairieville, LA, Ronald Wickes, Jr. and Bertina Lloyd both of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Myrdes Sims; his grandson, Derrick Sims, Jr., a special uncle, Lester Jones; a special cousin, Larry Jones; three aunts; five uncles, and other relatives.
